Taigué Ahmed
Taigué Ahmed works as a choreographer, dancer and artistic director in Chad. At the age of 13 he became a member of the National Ballet of Chad (traditional dance). In 2003 he discovered contemporary dance and participated in a workshop of the French choreographer Julie Dossavi in N’Djamena/Chad. Further, he took advantage of professional trainings at the Ecole des Sables in Senegal and the Centre National de la Danse in Paris/France, before starting to train young dancers in N’Djamena. In 2005 he founded the organization Ndam Se Na that supports artistic and pedagogical dance projects in Chad.
In April 2015 Taigué Ahmed presented together with Sarah Israel their performance »Laissez-moi… Eine Blickstörung«. In 2014 he taught dance courses for children and refugees in Germany and Canada . In the October of 2014 he conducted the project »Atelier Nomade« with the Musée du Quai Branly in Paris and worked with young people and women in the suburbs of Clichy-sous-Boi and Montfermail. Afterwards he participated in the festival AFRICTIONS where he presented his new creation »Abbanay Abbanay«. At the end of 2014, he organized in cooperation with the Ecoles des Sables the workshop and project »Hors des mûrs« in N’Djamena for young dancers animated by the choreographer Vincent Mantsoé. In the summer of 2011 he was invited to develop a choreography about the picture The garden of earthly desire by Jérôme Bosch at the dance center Danshuis Station Zuid in Tilburg/Netherlands. In 2009 Taigué Ahmed presented his solo Crache mon histoire in France and several African countries. The solo was invited to the 8th edition of the festival Danse l’Afrique Danse in Bamako/Mali in 2010.
With Ndam Se Na he has realized pedagogical dance courses in different refugee camps in the South of Chad since 2005.
Taigué Ahmed is co-founder of the dance festival SOUAR in N’Djamena that takes place every year in December.
