Mireya Arauzo Ruiz
Mireya Arauzo was born in Soria, Spain in 1986.
Ms. Arauzo’s professional career includes biomechanics, contemporary dance, and body awareness techniques; her background includes work in the Grotowski technique and circus training. She earned a BA in drama from the Institut del Teatre in Barcelona with specialization in physical theater.
In 2011, Mireya worked with Moreno Bernardi, who delves into the study of the »picture scene,« the scene as a picture in movement, and the consciousness of the actor in a scene inspired by Meyerhold’s method. Based on these premises, Mireya created »Paso a Paso« which premiered in Prague, a project selected for the Hradec Kralove festival in 2012. From there she traveled to Milan to work for six months with Serena Sinigaglia and A.T.I.R Teatro as Assistant Director.
She currently resides in Paris, where she created her own theater company, Mirlo, which was in residency at the Centres Dramatiques Nationaux from November 2012 to January 2014. She continues to live and teach in Paris.
Since 2012, Mireya has specialized in the search for new forms of expression. She equally considers all theatrical elements of light , sound, movement, music, and projection, with the intention of creating a new visual dramaturgy.
In March 2014, she worked under the directorship of Verena Weiss and was awarded with a five-month fellowship in 2015 at the Akademie Schloss Solitude in Sttutgart, Germany. From September to January she traveled to India, were she collaborated with the Karnataka National Theatre and the Canadian School as a teacher, and studied forms of dance and theater, specifically Barathanakyam and Kutiyattam with Sri. G. Venu.
