Maxi Obexer
Maxi Obexer was born in Südtirol/Italy. She lives in Berlin as an author of theater plays, audio dramas, essay, and prose, including Das Geisterschiff (The Ghost Ship), Gletscher (Glacier), as well as the novel Wenn gefährliche Hunde lachen (When Dangerous Dogs Laugh). Among her most political works is her most recent play Illegale Helfer (Illegal Helpers). She is especially engaged in the mediation of the dramatic arts; is the founder of the Neues Institut für Dramatisches Schreiben (New Institute for Dramatic Writing) together with Marianna Salzmann; and organized for the first time the Summer School Südtirol on the topic »Escape/Refuge« in 2015. She currently teaches at the German Institute for Literature in Leipzig and will also soon be teaching at Georgetown University in Washington DC/USA.
