Kun Akaabir is an anthropologist based at Nahdlatul Ulama University (UNU) of Purwokerto (Indonesia). Since he graduated from Leiden University (The Netherlands) with an MA degree in Islamic Studies, Kun has been engaged in ethnographical research on politics and Islamic law and culture. Focusing on the daily life of ancient-Muslim communities, who are now becoming minorities in his country, his current research is investigating the influence of politics to the extinction of many old religious traditions.
