Katharina Hartwell
Katharina Hartwell was born in 1984 in Cologne. She studied English literature and culture in Frankfurt am Main/Germany and afterwards Creative Writing at the Deutsche Literaturinstitut Leipzig, Germany. In 2011 her collection of stories »Im Eisluftballon« was published. In 2013 followed the publication of her first novel »Das Fremde Meer« (Berlin Verlag) and in 2015 the second novel »Der Dieb in der Nacht«. She received several prizes and fellowships, among them the MDR-Literaturpreis and the Würth-Literaturpreis. She was also a fellow of Literarisches Colloquium Berlin, Germany, the Stiftung Künstlerdorf Schöppingen, Germany, and in Prague/Czech Republic. In 2013 she was the Island author of Sylt, Germany, in 2016 she was a virtual writer in residence of the City of Oldenburg, Germany.
