Alexander Werle – Local Sensing

WimmelResearch fellow Alexander Werle, who took part in Platform 12 in spring 2018, started his project with the questions: »How varied are mobility needs? What about confidence in technology? How do reality and research reality overlap?«

For his project Local Sensing, the researcher and design strategist collaborated with several Bosch researchers. Through an experimental qualitative field study, he brought the question of mobility into a local context – a portable public-transport stop was inserted as an intervention into different locations within Stuttgart’s public space. The project’s goal was one of connecting to passersby and gaining personal impressions of the locations by interviewing citizens on their thoughts and opinions about mobility.

In this field, collaboration between a technology corporation and the public already exists. Alexander Werle’s primary inquiry was how we can better organize these contact areas.
