I made this small 3D picture for the workshop assignment. The artwork on the wall is one of the paintings made by the artist I found, Ayushman Mitra. I used an algorithm to convert a picture of the painting into a 3D model with volume; the warmer the color, the higher it went, creating something similar to an imaginary landscape from an Instagram screenshot. I then put the artwork into a preset 3D room where a normal painting would traditionally stand. The intent behind the piece was to materialize an artwork found on the Internet and to transcend the screen’s flatness, transforming it into an object with real texture and volume, even if it stays in the digital world.
