I’m breaking my word.

Read text in German.

The intellect of these times yells: »Listen, you fools!« The feelings of these times batter and bellow: »Fear!« All dialogue stumbles and falls when the argument is nothing but an unintelligible feeling, when the argument is nothing but unfelt intellectual reasoning.

But there you are, like a paradox: you most powerful semantic singularity: You, Fear.

Where are Love and Desire and Comfort and Grief? Besides you, Fear? Fear, you stolen, raped, emotional word. You popularized and polarized contraction. How you seek to push us into the arms of those who cannot hold themselves up.

Oh word, how you create and recreate and remain unbroken!

I am breaking you.

I am breaking your coldness. I am stroking away your contractions.

I renew you. Inside Comfort, Love, Grief, and Desire. They are my motivations.

I am breaking through you.

——-

I was not speechless. I was out of words. I emptied, rid myself, of words. I was a body without words, in a screaming world. I longed for words of magic, words of light. Because the words around me, they were dark. Spoke of an old, not too long gone, time.

Word, what power had you that you thought you had the right to repeat yourself?

What power had those who spoke you? What power did I give you? How weak was I that I did not yell back?

But how could I have? When those words were not my words.

Word, in no way could you have become internal to me, when all you did was create an external world that did not let my heart echo and froze my soul. When frozen, one cannot hear. When frozen, one cannot speak. The vibrations of my voice, of my being. Silenced.

So I let you go, Word, and found new ones: words that glittered that created space, that danced, that embraced, that comforted, that cried, that lived. With me. My words speak tears. Speak love. Speak comfort. Speak desire.

——-

I say: I cry. I say: I love. I say: I comfort you. I say it once. Not twice. No double meaning. No true meaning, talked away by another, by an ever so colorful illusion. There is no illusion to you, you new Word. You are action. You are the very means of my being.

Word, be my instrument. Speak the light, do not cover it up. Speak a world for me in which we know again that our words are doing us good, they are doing the good. A world in which comfort is heard, love is heard, desire is heard. And Comfort is. Love is. Desire is. Because Fear can no longer be.

——-

Ich sage: ich weine. Ich sage: ich liebe. Ich sage: ich tröste. Ich sage es einfach. Nicht zweifach. Keine Dopplung des Sinns. Den wahren und den vorgetäuschten. Keine Täuschung klebt dir an, du neue Sprache. Du bist Handlung und Mittel meines Seins.

Wort, Du sei mein Mittel.
